Jamey’Elly Mae’ Peacock
LAWRENCE – Jamey “Elly Mae” Peacock, 44, of Lawrence, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2007, of cancer.
Elly Mae was born on Feb. 5, 1963 in Price, one of seven children born to Boyd and Diane Potter. She married Kevin Peacock on July 17, 1981.
Elly Mae is survived by her husband, Kevin Peacock, Lawrence; mother, Diane Potter, Huntington; grandmother, Margie Ward, Huntington; her loving children, Eshia Peacock, Castle Dale, and Keyanna Peacock, Orangeville; three grandchildren; Mikah, Chel and Alex; sisters and brothers, Stacy (Mike) Christman, Orangeville; DeVon Potter, Delta, Colo.; Brett Potter, Huntington; Wayne (Lisa) Potter, Tucson Ariz.; Cody (Barbie) Potter, Huntington; Marty (Mandi) Potter, Eckert, Colo.; in-laws, Robert (LaRee) Peacock, Price; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Heber Ward; father, Boyd Potter; and brother, Chel Potter.
Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 3, 11 a.m. at the Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 S. Main, Huntington. Interment will follow at the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Pete Liapis
PRICE/BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – Peter Paul Liapis, age 83, passed away peacefully July 29, 2007 at his home in Bullhead City, Ariz. He was born Oct. 31, 1923 in Mohrland to Paul and Foto Lambrinos Liapis. Married Alberta Leo in the Greek Orthodox Church in Price prior to moving to California. Pete enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp at the beginning of WWII, spending three years of combat in the Pacific. He was wounded at Guam and the Marianas Islands and received the Purple Heart while serving with the Carleson Raider Battalion. Pete returned to Carbon County, where he was a member of the Carbon College championship football team. He was honored as a member of the all-conference football team in 1947 when they won the championship.
Pete won many boxing titles, including the international heavy weight title of AAU. His success in amateur boxing led him to move to Fullerton, Calif., where he was a counselor and coach for the Fullerton Boys Club for 23 years. Pete was associated with many professional sports dignitaries who held him in the highest esteem. His association with Rick Miller, director of 11 Boys Clubs of Phoenix and founder of the Kids for Hope National Foundation was Pete’s life career.
After retirement from the Fullerton Boys Club, he was a successful businessman owning hotels in California and Arizona. But in his heart and mind, he was always the athletic director of the Fullerton Boys Club.

Survived by his loving wife, Alberta, Bullhead City, Ariz.; sons, Rock, Bullhead City, Ariz.; Peter Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Faye Schumacher, Redding, Calif.; sisters, Sylvia (John) Platis, Dorothy Kay, Helen Maxfield; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Harry Liapis. Funeral service Saturday, Aug. 4, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Price. Trisagion service, Friday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to service. Committal, Price City Cemetery.
