The Emery County Domestic Violence Coalition is sponsoring the Ninth Annual “October Awareness Program” in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Oct. 24, noon-1 p.m.; county building, second floor in Castle Dale. It is free to the public. Lunch will be provided by the Coalition.
The guest speaker is Rita Mangum, LCSW. Rita is the Chief Program Officer at the Salt Lake City YWCA. She has extensive experience working with victims of domestic violence. Rita is an expert at identifying and treating stress and trauma. She will talk about the symptoms of stress and trauma and how it can affect us physically, emotionally, and mentally. Rita will offer strategies on how to cope with stress and trauma and how we can help others who are experiencing these adverse effects on our well being. Door prizes, must be present to win.
