Castle Dale City Pumpkin Festival
The Castle Dale City Pumpkin Festival will be held on Oct. 27 at the Emery County Rec Center from 5-7 p.m. There will be free pumpkins to carve for children elementary age and under. Activities include a pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, and biggest pumpkin contest. There will also be stew, rolls and pumpkin pie.
Spook Alley-date Change
A spook alley will be held on Oct. 23 at the Canyon View Junior High in Huntington from 6:30-8 p.m. The FCCLA will sponsor the spook alley which they use as a fund raiser for their activities. There is a charge for the spook alley and concessions will be available.
To Castle Dale Youth City Council
In the thank you ad recently run by the Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show organizers, a very important sponsor was inadvertantly left out. Hunter Safety Class
A six day hunter safety class will be held Nov. 1 and 2 at the old courthouse and Nov. 5-8 at Emery County Recreation Center between 4-7 p.m. each day. There is no age or class limit. You must pre-register by Oct. 30. Participants will be required to obtain a voucher at a licensed vendor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources prior to registering for the class.for the class. Bazaar and Bake Sale
A bazaar and bake sale will be hosted by Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main, Huntington with great Christmas gift items, many hand-made items; everything new. Choose from a nice variety of food and baked items. Free drinks while you shop. Fri., Oct. 26, 2-6 p.m. and Sat., Oct. 27, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Don’t miss this happy event.
Attention Hunters
The annual Lily of the Valley, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers breakfast and lunch will be Nov. 3 at the Elmo Pioneer building, 55 South 100 East, Elmo. Breakfast will be 8-10:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. A drawing for a tied quilt and other items will be held at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Festive Fridays Return for the Third Year
The third annual Festive Fridays will be held at the Old County Courthouse, upstairs at 12 noon on the following Fridays: Oct. 26; Nov. 9; Nov. 16; Nov. 30; Dec. 7; and Dec; 14. Cost for each class is $2 and RSVP is requested. Call the Extension office at 381-2381.

Orangeville: Costume Parade at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 and Halloween Carnival that evening beginning at 5:30 p.m.; Castle Dale: Costume Parade at school at 2:15 p.m.; Ferron: Costume Parade at 1 p.m.; Huntington: Costume Parade at 10 a.m.; Cleveland: 10 a.m. Costume Parade. 5:30 p.m. Trunk or Treat at the school, 6 p.m. Carnival at the school.
Spinal Care Classes
Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. We will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and are given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander’s office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.
“October Awareness Program”
The Emery County Domestic Violence Coalition is sponsoring their ninth Annual “October Awareness Program” in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month Oct. 24, at noon in the Old Court House, second floor, Castle Dale. This program and lunch are free to the public Guest speaker: Rita Mangum, LCSW. Rita is the Chief Program Officer at the Salt Lake City YWCA. She has extensive experience working with victims of domestic violence. Rita is an expert at identifying and treating stress and trauma. She will talk about the symptoms of stress and trauma and how it can affect us physically, emotionally, and mentally. Rita will offer strategies on how to cope with stress and trauma and how we can help others who are experiencing these adverse effects on our well being.
Emerald Dream Ball National Search
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Emerald Dream Team is pleased to announce a National Search for 12 women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have a compelling story to tell. The women chosen will be whisked away, with a guest, to Las Vegas on Dec. 26, all expenses paid, for a week of absolute pampering and fun. Their week will end with a New Year’s Eve Ball thrown in their honor which has been deemd the Emerald Dream Ball. The application process will run from Oct. 8 through Nov. 8. Staying Mobile With MS
The National MS Society Utah State Chapter presents “Getting There: Staying Mobile with MS” to the MS community of Price and its surrounding communities on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 838 Westwood Blvd. in Price. Hope Jense, Physical Therapist with Cottonwood Hospital will present and be available for a question and answer session. A video will also be shown to discuss different aspects of mibility with MS. Flu Shots Available at Your Local Health Department
Southeastern Utah District Health Department (SEUDHD) will start giving flu shots Oct. 23 at the Castle Dale office. The vaccine will be offered 8:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. Shots will also be available after Oct. 23 during regular immunization hours. Vaccines are arriving on time and there are no limitations. The cost is $25 but SEUDHD can bill Medicare, Medicaid, PEHP, DMBA, Mailhandlers, CHIP, Molina and Altius. Individuals should present their insurance cards at the time of service.

Soldiers Addresses Needed
American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and support them.
