Annual Economic Development Planning Meeting


Annual Economic Develpment Planning Meeting will be held Nov. 28 at the County Building at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome and dinner will be served.

Christmas Pottery Sale


The College of Eastern Utah’s Christmas pottery sale will be held in the student center Nov. 29-30 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The student center is located at 300 East 500 North in Price.

Tryouts for the Sound of Music


Emery High School and the Emery County Community Theatre are joining together to present the Sound of Music in 2008. Tryouts will be held in the Emery High chorus room on Nov. 27-28 at 7 p.m. Come prepared to sing a one minute song.

Orangeville Christmas in the Park, Chili/Soup Cook-off


The 2007 Christmas in the Park celebration in Orangeville will be held on Dec. 1. The chili/soup cook-off will be held that day with judging at 4 p.m. at the new fire station. To sign-up for the cook-off, go to city hall before Nov. 30. Bring a gallon of your entry to be served at the celebration.

Along with the chili-soup cook-off on Dec. 1, many activities are planned. Activities begin at 4 p.m. with Christmas ornaments for the children at city hall, chili/soup dinner from 5-7 p.m. at the new fire station, turning on the lights in the park at 6 p.m. a special visitor in the park at 6:30 p.m., and a bon fire with hot chocolate and doughnuts.

Ferron Elementary Book Fair


Ferron Elementary will hold a book fair Dec. 3-7 from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.

Christmas Extravaganza Fundraiser


Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. Auction will be held at 5 p.m. and trees and wreaths will be available for purchase. Other activities include booths, food, Santa from noon-1 p.m., live entertainment and a silent gingerbread house auction. Proceeds will be donated to the Emery Scholarship Fund. Organized and sponsored by Emery High School FBLA, FCCLA and Sterling Scholars. Huntington City Community Christmas


Huntington City’s community Christmas will be held on Dec. 7 at Huntington Elementary School. Dinner will be from 6-7 p.m. with games and a program from 7-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Know Before You Go


An ATV permit class will be held Nov. 29 at the old courthouse building beginning at 7 p.m. for ages 8-16 to be legal to drive on public lands. You must preregister at the Emery County Recreation Office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale before Nov. 27. Festival of Trees


The Festival of Trees will be held Nov. 28-Dec. 1 at the South Towne Exposition Center in Salt Lake City from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. For more information contact Elizabeth Hansen at 801-641-1343.

Emery County Gun Club Schedule


The schedule for the Emery County Gun Club will be: Nov. 24 Thanksgiving shoot; Dec. 8; Dec. 22; Jan. 5, 2008 and Jan. 19, 2008. All shoots will start at dusk, just before dark. For more information contact Jeremy at 381-2057, Jason at 384-3279, or AJ at 384-3393.

Commodities Cooking Classes


Commodities cooking classes will be held in Emery County at the Emery County Courthouse, 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale, from 9 a.m.-noon on the following days: Nov. 21; Dec. 19; Jan. 16, 2008; Feb. 20, 2008; March 19, 2008, April 16, 2008, May 21, 2008; and June 18, 2008.

Ferron/Price Ranger Districts: (435) 384-2372/ (435) 637-2817. Permits go on sale Nov. 19. Permits are $5, one permit per household, one tree only. Permits can be purchased at the Price Ranger District Office, 599 West Price River Drive, Price, and the Ferron Ranger District Office, 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. any species of tree may be cut, except Ponderosa Pine and Blue Spruce.

Huntington City Turkey Trot


Huntington City’s annual Turkey Trot will be held Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. It will begin at the Huntington City Park and has an entry fee of $1. A group of local residents have started a website dedicated to empowering the people of Emery and Carbon counties to articulate their points of view regarding the recent tragedies at Crandall, coal mining and coal mining culture, and the future of coal mining in this region. Pi Kappa Alpha Game Ball Run


The members of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity invite you to support their 19th annual Keven B. Kennedy Game Ball Run. This fundraising event is held in conjuction with the U of U versus BYU football game. On Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. the “Pikes” will run a relay, carrying the rivalry game ball from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake to Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo. All proceeds go to Camp Hobe, an annual summer cam for kids with cancer and their siblings. For more information contact 435-513-8377.

Festive Fridays Return for the Third Year

Spinal Care Classes


Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. We will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and are given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander’s office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.
