As part of American Legion Post 42, nine Vets took part in three color guard ceremonies for Memorial Day. One was in Ferron, one in Molen, a small community southeast of Ferron where few still live but there is still a good sized cemetery with Veteran Graves, and one in Castle Dale.
The attendance at the first two was very good, many citizens and family members of the fallen attended as well as many visitors from out of the area. The attendance in Molen was great, it always is. Year after year the surviving families of those people who lived and died from Molen return to show that they never forget their dead. A big crowd comes each year andtakes care of those isolated graves.
The Memorial service is not for the living but for the dead who gave all or part of their lives for our country.
A prayer was read by the Post Chaplain the rededication of the ground as hallowed, and acknowledges the service that is being remembered. Then a 21 gun salute is fired and Taps are blown honoring these men and women who have sacrificed.
The Veterans also performed a ceremony in Castle Dale.
