College of Eastern Utah 70th Anniversary Celebration
Sept. 13 there will be a dinner and awards program at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the Price campus, and Sept. 18, there will be a dinner and awards program held in Salt Lake City at Little America. BLM Continues to Seek Nominations to Utah’s Resource Advisory Council
The Bureau of Land Management in Utah is seeking public nominations for one open position in Category Two on its 15-member Resource Advisory Council. Category Two positions are: representatives of nationally or regionally recognized environmental organizations, archaeological and historic organizations, dispersed recreation activities, and wild horse and burro organizations. Individuals may nominate themselves or others to serve on an advisory council. Nominees, who must be residents of Utah, will be judged on the basis of their training, education, and knowledge of the council’s geographical area. Nominees should also demonstrate a commitment to consensus building and collaborative decision making. All nominations must be accompanied by letters of reference from any represented interests or organizations; a completed background information nomination form; and any other information that speaks to the nominee’s qualifications. Nomination forms are available from BLM offices and from BLM’s website at http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en.html. Castle Dale Relief Society

Aug. 30 Goblin Valley State Park
Green River-Junior Ranger Program: Who are the predators and who are the prey at Goblin Valley? How do they survive in this harsh environment? This program is geared toward children 6-12 but everyone is welcome. Earn a Junior Ranger badge and have fun. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Observation Point above the Valley of the Goblins. Emery County Youth Football
Emery County youth football registration will be held Aug. 26-27 from 5-7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. This program is for youth fifth-seventh grades and the fee is $65. Payment is required at the time of registration. The participant must be at registration to receive a uniform. For the identification and conviction of the thief who stole a Honda Generator and propane tank from a well located in the Tidwell Draw area of Emery County. The cows who are now choking on the dust would appreciate the help in restoring their water supply. The cows need the equipment more than the thief who stole it. Historical Society Cowboy Poetry Night
The Emery County Historical Society will host their annual Cowboy Poetry night at the Castle Valley Ranch on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Kent Petersen, local cowboy poet will be the guest poet, and feature poetry by other local poets. Music will be provided by Desert Rose and the evening will wind up with Dutch oven cobbler and ice cream. Remember to bring a lawn chair and a jacket. Your $5 yearly dues can be paid this night to keep the events happening.
