The Emery High Lady Spartan volleyball team will travel to Utah Valley University this Thursday and open the 2008 tournament against the number one or the number two seed from region 11. Morgan not only won their region but is also currently ranked the best team in 3-A by both Salt Lake City newspapers. Logan High is second in region 11.
Besides Morgan, other ranked teams are Hurricane at number two, Carbon at number three, Park City at number four and Juan Diego at number five. Region 8 finished with Carbon the winner with a 10-0 record, Juan Diego second with an 8-2 record followed by Delta, North Sanpete, Emery and Salem Hills. Salem Hills did not win a region contest.
Last week Emery lost close games to North Sanpete and Juan Diego. Against the Soaring Eagles, Emery won the first set and lost the last set 25-23 as they played well against Juan Diego.
Coach Bell is excited to take her team to state this season, “This will be good for them to go and play.
“This is especially true for the younger girls to see what it is all about,” said Bell.
