FERRON-Randy Joe Nordell, age 68, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, March 26, 2009. He was born in Ferron, Utah on Nov. 13, 1940 to Delores Swasey Nordell.
“Work together, play together, stay together,” was Randy’s mother’s plea that she often repeated to her family of nine. The family took their mother’s advice to heart and met faithfully for every occasion, and they were happiest when they were together.
Randy married Martha Lou Gates and they had two children, Eric Sean and Jason Fred. They later divorced.
On Dec. 12, 1992, after a long courtship Randy married Terrie Jones in Elko, Nev.
Randy served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked as a machinist for 40 years, later becoming a manufacturing engineer for L-3 Communication. After his retirement Randy left Bountiful and returned to his beloved Ferron where he was happiest.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Terrie Nordell, Ferron; sons, Eric (Trish) Nordell, Salt Lake City, Jason (Debbie) Nordell, Ferron; daughter, Kayt Smith, Ferron; brother, Ross (Virginia) Nordell, Manti; sisters, Echo (Bob) Judd, Price, Roma Powell, Huntington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers, Dale and Bryce; brothers, Harold “Buster” and Dewey Joe; and sister, Lavonne Seeley.
A celebration of life will be held at the Emery County Senior Center in Ferron on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
