NEHS Reunion


The NEHS reunion will be held July 3 at the Huntington Elementary School. If you have received your registration form in the mail, fill it out and return it to Dixie Bass, P.O. Emery County Historical Society Trek


It’s trek time. Emery county historical members are welcome to our May trek on May 30, to Willow Springs coal mine, Butch Cassidy’s name, and Oak Ranch. Meet at the Museum in Castle Dale at 9 a.m. or Emery City Park at 9:30 a.m. Bring a pot luck dish, water, bug repellant, a chair, sun screen, and a hat/jacket. The historical society will furnish the hot dogs and buns. We will lunch at the Oak Ranch. For more information call Joyce 748-5165 or 749-0041. Next trek is June 13. Watch for details. Vacation Bible School


All ye buccaneers are welcome to join us for a week long voyage that promises adventure, surprise, grub and loot for each mate. Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Ferron will be held on June 1-5 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. There will be puppets, crafts, snacks, Bible stories, games and more fun. Any buccaneer from ages 4-12 is welcome. Come join the fun.

Orangeville Day June 13


Start your summer fun by attending Orangeville Day Celebration beginning at 6:30 a.m. register for the Fun Run, meet at the Community Center ($15), 7 a.m. flag raising and breakfast in the park, 10 a.m. Parade (needing participants, contact Marti Snow – 748-5455), 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. concessions, races, slides, games, and horse shoes, 12 noon ATV poker ride, ($5 per hand meet on the east side of the ball field in the park), 1 p.m. water games (if weather permits), 5:30 p.m. Humphrey Brothers lamb fry ($6 per plate 9 years and up, $3 per plate 8 years and under), at dusk (approximately 8:15 p.m., movie in the park (free). No fireworks this year.

Emery High Girls Basketball Camp


June 1, 2, 3, at Spartan Center, 8-12 grade 9-11:30 a.m.- $35, elementary-7 grade 12:30-2:30 p.m.- $30. Questions call Steven Gordon at 749-9807 or 687-2373.

The Emery County American Cancer Society Relay for Life


The Relay for Life will be on June 12-13 at 6 p.m. It’s never too soon to register for Relay 2009. Plan to help us celebrate Relay’s 25th Anniversary. This year’s theme is “Kool for a Kure.” The Relay event starts with a kick-off dinner at 6 p.m. and ends with a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning. Former Senator Jake Garn will be the key note speaker. At the Ms. Relay competition; males competing for the crown, will be back again this year. For more details contact Judi Bishop 653-2221. Miss Emery


Interested girls between ages 17-24 are welcome to enter the Miss Emery Scholarship Pageant on July 11. Scholarship is $1,200 and a new computer for first place; $700-second and $500-third. Call Jerilyn at 381-5667, Leslie at 381-2119 or Patsy at 381-2431.
