Cleveland Town receives Fire station funds

The Utah Permanent Community Impact Board approved a request to fund a $1.1 million town hall and fire station. The new 5,490 square foot facility will be both a town hall and fire station with office space, storage areas, a kitchen and locker room. Funding for the new facility was approved as a $550,000 no-interest 30 year loan and a $559,280 grant.
“This is a much needed facility for the city of Cleveland and Emery County,” said CIB board member and San Juan County Commissioner Bruce Adams, who represents the Southeastern Association of Governments. “The dual-use design which allows the city to use this facility as both a town hall and fire station shows that city planners really thought ahead to ensure they get more for their buck.”
The Community Impact Board awards grants and low-interest loans to cities, towns and counties impacted by mining and the extraction of oil and gas on federal land. Projects funded by the CIB benefit rural Utah by creating safer, more livable communities. The program is managed by the Division of Housing and Community Development under the Utah Department of Community and Culture.
