Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Carolyn Rose Barney, age 74, passed away on July 14, 2009, surrounded by family in Elko, Nev.
She was born Jan. 17, 1935 in Panaca, Nev., to Merrill and Kate Larsen. She married Clinton Verl Thorngren on June 17, 1954 in Circleville, Utah. He passed away in March, 1960. She then married William Lee Barney on Sept. 1, 1960, in Ely, Nev.
Carolyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She loved cooking, drinking Pepsi, music, and family reunions. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren.
She was a proud seamstress at Koret’s from its opening day to the day it closed, and would sew for her family in her spare time.
She is survived by her husband, William, her two daughters, Ramona (Delbert) and Cathy (Paul), her two sons, Dennis (Jennifer) and Wesley, 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandchildren Sharon and Jared, and her younger brother Burt.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Cleveland LDS Church at 11 a.m. A viewing was Friday, July 17 at Fausett Mortuary in Price from 6- 8 p.m and on Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment was at Cleveland City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.fausettmortuary.com.
