PRICE-Mary Angotti Paloni, passed away July 17, 2009 in Orem after just recently celebrating her 98th birthday.
She was the oldest of six children born to Salvatore “Sam” Angotti and Catherine Rose Guzzo on July 3, 1911 in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy. At the age of seven she immigrated to the United States with her parents, and has remained in Carbon County most of her life.
She married Dominic Paloni, April 16, 1927 in Price, Utah; he died Dec. 26, 1968.
Mary was an active member of the Catholic Church, and shortly after her marriage she opened her home in Columbia to the community as a place for Mass and Religious Education Classes. She was a charter member of the Altar Society, member of the National Beta Sigma Phi, and chairperson and president of various church and civic functions.
Mary always made time for her church and community. She was a woman of great faith and beauty, and she always showed great love for her family and neighbors.
She is survived by her daughter, Ernestine “Ernie” Kanipe, Orem; son, Dominic “Donnie” Paloni, Price; brother, John (Mary) Angotti, Price; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John S. Paloni; brother, Tony Angotti; sisters, Annie Oliveto, Rose Grako and Angelina Farlaino.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Monday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
