Bada – Bing, Bada – Bang, Bada – Boom. One, two, three. Three up – three down. However you say it, the Green River Lady Pirates took care of the Eureka Lady Miners in quick fashion during the first game of the 2009 volleyball season on the Lady Miners home court.
The home crowd was split between watching the boys baseball players and watching the girls play volleyball but they were loud for the first little while but as the Lady Pirates took control of the first game the crowd quieted down a little.
The second game saw the home town girls take a quick lead against the Lady Pirates but after Coach Simmons called a time out the Pirates started a steady climb out of the scoring slump and took a commanding lead against the Lady Miners.
The third game pretty much mirrored the second with Coach Simmons calling a time out with the Lady Miners up 8 to 3. The Lady Pirates gritted their teeth and in no time the score was 15 to 10 in the Pirates favor and then 20 to 13.
The Lady Pirates played their hand early in the season and came out making a statement that they are hungry and ready to play.
