Phyllis Irene Hunt Burr passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Green River, Utah on April 24, 1934. She married George Thomas Burr on Sept. 9, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. She enjoyed 55 years as his devoted earthly companion and looked forward to an eternity together. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many callings including Relief Society and Primary President.
Famous for her culinary skills, her delectable pies and rolls were the highlight of family, church, and community events. But most of all she loved being a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her devotion and dedicated service to her family has left an eternal legacy of love which will not be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her father Lafayette Hunt, mother Rua Hunt, brothers Verald Hunt, Loren Hunt, Don Hunt, and sisters Twila Bigelow and Vivian Rowe. Her surviving family members include her husband, children and their spouses, Kevin and Brenda Burr, Conae and Jeff Black, Bradley and Cyndie Burr, Shalia and Lance Moses, and Trent and Alicia Burr, 24 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother and his wife, Verno and Glenna Hunt, and sisters and their spouses, Ina and Adolph Spadafora, and Janet and Jared Tucker and a host of other extended family members.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 from 6-7 p.m. at the Green River LDS Chapel and also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Grand County Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
