PRICE-Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Claudette Wright Mele returned home to her Heavenly Father on Nov. 24, 2009.
She was born Aug. 27, 1933 in Kemmer, Wyo. to Wilmer C. Wright and Thelma Manchester and they later moved to Carbon County where she became a long term resident.
She was a graduate of Carbon High School and attended one year at the University of Utah where she met and married her beloved husband, Louis J. Mele. They were married on June 19, 1954 in East Carbon.
Claudette worked at the Price Hospital, Hartman and Jensen, and Lee Norse Mining Machinery, and from there she went to Price City Cemetery where she retired as secretary in 1998.
She loved camping, fishing, and hunting with her family and dog Kooter. Claudette was the greatest cheerleader that Carbon High School ever had until the day she died. She supported football, girls and boy’s basketball, volleyball, girl’s soccer, wrestling, baseball and softball. She will greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Survived by her loving husband of 56 years Louis J. Mele, Price; loving children, Louis M. (Kathryn) Mele, Green River, Wyo., Greg P. (Kym) Mele, Vernal; Jamie C. Mele, Price; brother, Walter L. (Linda) Wright, Paonia, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and her dog, Kooter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved daughter, Patti A. Mele; brother, Jerry Wright; and granddaughter, Amanda J. Mele.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Those wishing to send contributions, the family suggests memorial offerings to the American Cancer Society in memory of Claudette. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
