William Duane Baird returned to his Heavenly Father on Jan. 27, 2010 after a long hard battle with many illnesses.
He was born June 6, 1937 in Standardville, Utah to William George and Edith May Ruff Baird.
Duane was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was truly one of a kind and would be there for anyone at anytime, no matter what the circumstance. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Duane worked for Denver & Rio Grande and the Union Pacific railroads as an engineer for more than 40 years never missing a days work.
His family loved him very much and his nieces and nephews thought the world of him. His very special friend Sheri Baird Alger was his closest friend.
Survived by his nieces, Debbie and Kelly; nephews, Kirk Jr. and Scott; brother-in-law, Kirk Alger Sr. who along with his family helped take care of him. He leaves behind a brother, David Baird; daughter, Ashley Gragg; extended family, great nieces and nephews; and cousins, Maryann Oviatt and Frances Rich.
The family wishes to thank his caretakers at Beehive Homes for their compassion and excellent care that Duane received.
Funeral service, Wednesday, Feb.3, 2010, 1 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends may sign the guest book and share memories of William online at mitchellfuneralhome.net.
