Is looking for people interested in umpiring Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, and softball games. Those interested in helping out with our youth programs can call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108 for more information.A training session will be given to all those that are interested. Emery County Cal Ripken Baseball 2010


Sign ups will be Feb. 22 through March 5 online at emerycountybaberuth.com. If you prefer to pay with cash or by check you may do so at the Emery County Recreation office. Make checks payable to Emery County Cal Ripken League. Cost for registration is as follows: $45 for rookies, 7-8 year olds, $55 for minors, 9-10 year olds and majors, 11-12 year olds. Parents signing up for Castle Dale are responsible for purchasing gray baseball pants. A signup will be held March 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the recreation center in Castle Dale.

It’s Relay for Life Season in Emery County


The monthly team captain meetings will be the first Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is: March 2 at 6 p.m. at the Emery County Courthouse-second floor 75 E. Main Street. Prior and potential team captains, businesses, cancer survivors, church groups, clubs, organizations and youth groups to attend. For more details contact Amanda Bjarnson at 749-1516.

Festive Friday


Feb. 26 at noon upstairs in the courthouse. Are you having trouble juggling your new year’s resolution to live a healthier lifestyle and eat better? Come join us for an hour of motivation presented by Anna Thayn of Grand County. Anna has lost more than 100 lbs. without the aid of surgery, pills or special diets—just healthier habits. (Even if you don’t need to lose weight, chances are that you could use a little help steering yourself to healthier eating habits…yes??) Please bring $2 for your lunch and handouts.

Huntington City Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2010 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Fire Station on the following dates: Feb. 27-9:30 a.m. to noon (Brett Griggs D.V.M.).

Emery High School Rodeo Team Indoor yard Sale

Fly-tying Clinic


Learn how to tie flies like a pro starting March 2 for five weeks. $20 registration fee includes nearly all supplies. Register at Emery County Recreation Office before March 1.

Orangeville CityRabies and Licensing Clinic


Orangeville City rabies and licensing clinic will be held on Feb. 27 at the New Fire Station 10 a.m.-12 noon. 2010 Dog tags are available at the city hall, please bring in your rabies information when licensing your dog. $8 for altered dogs and $25 for unaltered dog. All dogs need to be licensed in the city, house dogs and outside dogs by March 1. After March 1 there will be a late fee of $25 per dog.

White Wash Sand Dunes Temporary Filming Closure


The White Wash Sand Dunes open OHV area will be closed for filming for approximately one week in late May, early June 2010. The Ruby Ranch Road, as well as all the other roads and trails in the area will remain open for visitor use. For example, the roads and trails in the Crystal Geyser area will be available for motorized use, and may be used as an alternative to the White Wash Sand Dunes. Filming dates are subject to change. Register Now for April ACT Test


Registration is now open for the April 10, 2010 ACT achievement test. Students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam must register before March 5.
The cost for the ACT test without writing is $32. When combined with the optional ACT Writing Test, the total cost is $47. Students who qualify may apply for a fee waiver through their high school counselor.

Lincoln Day Dinner


Governor Gary Herbert will speak at the Emery County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 24 6 PM at the San Rafael Museum, Castle Dale, Menu: Rib Eye Steak or Turkey Mignon, $25 per plate. Rabies Clinic


Cleveland Town will sponsor a Rabies Clinic on Sat. February 27, 2010, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery Storage Building, 200 N. 600 E. in Cleveland. Dr. Griggs will be the vet this year. All dogs are required to have a current rabies shot before they can be licensed for the new year. All dogs must be licensed by March 1,2010. Dog licenses are $5 for spayed or neutered, $15 if not. All dogs owner are encouraged to take advantage of this clinic. This will be the only clinic held this year. Late fees will be assessed after March 1, 2009.

Millsite Golf Academy


A beginners golf class will be held Feb. 25 and run through April 1 at 6 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center for ages 8 through 99. This class will teach you golf terminology, etiquette, how to use clubs and much more information. A $25 fee is required. Bring your clubs with you. If you don’t have clubs, they will be provided.
Sponsors and golf clubs and cash donations are welcome.
The class will be taught by Jordan Leonard and Carl Sitterud.

West Tavaputs Plateau Site Stewardship Program


Price, Utah-The Bureau of Land Management, Utah, Price Field Office will host a public meeting to discuss the development of a site stewardship program for the West Tavaputs Plateau, which includes Nine Mile Canyon. The meeting is scheduled for March 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the Carbon County Event Center conference room located at 450 South Fairgrounds Way, Price, Utah.
A site stewardship program allows trained volunteers the opportunity to work with professional archaeologists to protect archaeological and historical resources by visiting sites regularly to record visual observations. Stewardship volunteers are members of the public who are exceptionally interested in the ongoing protection and preservation of cultural resources.
Development of a site stewardship program is one of the measures included within the West Tavaputs Plateau Natural Gas Full Field Development Programmatic Agreement, which was finalized on Jan. 5, 2010. The purpose of this agreement is to protect cultural resources on West Tavaputs, while permitting orderly and environmentally-responsible natural gas development.

Food Handler’s Classes


There will be food handler’s classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or deli’s. Classes will be taught in Price at Southeastern Utah District Health Dep’t. located at 28 S. 100 E. at 9 a.m. 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. on March 16.
In Castle Dale at 25 W. Main at 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. on March 17.

The Salt Lake Children’s Choir is now in its 30th year and is planning a 30th Anniversary Gala Concert for Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Abravanel Hall. They are in the process of forming an Alumni choir and don’t have current contact information for all choir alumni and are hopeful that through this announcement they can reach as many former choir members as possible.
