4-H Summer

4-H summer activity calendars are available through the elementary schools. If your child does not receive a copy, you may pick one up at the 4-H office. Registrations are due June 4. Some activities are free, others cost.
Paleontology camp for older youth is June 21-25. Other activities include: cake decorating, sewing, iris paper folding, making beads, crochet a necklace, and other fun stuff. For more information, call Christine Jensen at 435-381-2381.

Help Promote Pageant

We are excited to announce that the Castle Valley Pageant will perform this year for eight nights, July 29, 30, 31 and Aug. 3, 4 ,5, 6, and 7. We are asking for help and assistance in promoting the pageant. If anyone has friends or relatives outside of our area who they would like to invite to attend the pageant, call 435-687-2403 and provide us with their name and address and we will mail a brochure to them. Emery County Relay for Life

The Emery County Relay for life will be June 11-12 at Emery High School. We invite all of Castle Country to attend. It’s not too late to sign up your team for the event. Miss Heritage Days Pageant

Four Man Scramble And Buddy Shoot Tournament
June 11 – 9 p.m. 50 bird buddy shoot at Emery County trap range. June 12 – 8 a.m. 9 hole 4 man scramble at Millsite Golf Course. Lunch will be provided after the tournament. Fees: $50 per person or $200 per team. Limited to the first 18 teams. Practice and late registration from 7-9 p.m. at the trap range. Sunnyside 60th Annual Rodeo Royalty Contest

Royalty consists of Queen, 1st and 2nd attendant – 13 years and up.
2 princesses – 12 years and under may rein for 2 years as princess then compete for Queens court at age 13. The contestants age is their age the day of the contest.

Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier

Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students. CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
