The 100% For Kids Credit Union Education Foundation is awarding $1,495 to Canyon View Junior High in Emery School District to aid in the purchase of needed classroom equipment.
Canyon View teacher, Andrew Pollaehne, plans to purchase science equipment with the awarded grant, to be used by all teachers in the science department.
“Science is moving toward project-based inquiry labs, as opposed to the type of labs that resemble a recipe from a cook book,” said Pollaehne. “To facilitate this, our school needs to shift from computer-based labs to a more flexible data collection system.”
Pollaehne looks forward to demonstrating for students how science and technology can work hand in hand.
The 100% For Kids Credit Union Education Foundation was founded by Utah’s Credit Unions in 2002, to provide much-needed funds to Utah classrooms. Funds are contributed by credit unions, credit union members and anyone committed to improving education in Utah.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $5 million to schools in each of Utah’s 41 school districts. This quarter, 100% For Kids Credit Union Education Foundation will award more than $21,000 to Utah schools.
One-hundred percent of donations made to the 100% for Kids Credit Union Education Foundation reach Utah classrooms- not one cent is spent on administrative costs.
