The Emery County Farm Bureau is excited to again sponsor the Farm Bureau “Celebrate Agriculture” contest. Students in grades three through eight are eligible to enter. The topic for 2011 is “A Day In the Life of A Farmer.” Participants are eligible to win $100. Have your story published. Earn resource materials for your classroom. Earn a pizza party for your class. Sports For Youth Foundation
Is currently accepting player applications from Canadian and American boys and girls, age 15 – 20, who are accomplished high school or club volleyball players. Applicants should also be good citizens in their school and community. The 2011 Goodwill Ambassadors Volleyball Exchange promotes, international friendships and peace through sport. 2011 marks the 31st year that the Goodwill Ambassadors have conducted sports tours promoting world peace and understanding. This year we are offering two tours. One tour will travel to London, Paris, the other will travel to Italy, visiting in Venice, Florence and Rome. The Fourth Annual Green River Boys and Girls Club Golf Tournament

Daniels Fund
Announces Grants for Utah Nonprofits Organizations providing services to people in need are among the major recipients of $309,776 in grants for Utah nonprofits announced this week by the Daniels Fund. Grant recipients include the Ability Foundation, Murray; Boys and Girls Clubs of Brigham City; House of Hope, Salt Lake City; Housing Opportunities, Salt Lake City; Transitions, Blanding; and Youth Impact, Ogden. The program areas eligible for grants through the Daniels Fund include: aging, alcoholism and substance abuse, amateur sports, disabilities, education, homeless and disadvantaged, and youth development. Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television who owned the ABA’s Utah Stars, established the Daniels Fund to operate the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier
Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students.
