PRICE-Our beautiful mother, grandma, nana and sister passed away Oct. 22, 2010 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Vannie was the fourth of 11 children born to Domenico and Maria Juiseppa Fazzio Perri in Sunnyside, Utah on Dec. 1, 1917. Being the oldest girl she was given many responsibilities at a very young age.
Vannie helped care for her younger siblings and she was often referred to by some as their “Second Mom”. She always spoke with so much love of her big, happy Italian family on “The Farm” in Spring Glen.
She married Greno Lami on Dec. 1, 1935 in Price, Utah. He passed away on April 15, 1991.
For many years Vannie owned and operated restaurants in Carbon County. In the early 1970’s she along with her husband Greno managed the Carbon Country Club. She was an excellent chef and did all the cooking at the club. Vannie was famous for her Italian cooking and pie baking.
For the past 18 years, except for the 15 months she spent at Beehive Homes she has lived with her daughter and son-in-law both in California and Utah. We were so blessed to have her so long.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Al Barnett; grandchildren, Tamara (Dan) Dockstader, Michelle (Tom) Murman; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren Mojica, Nicole, Heather and Matthew Murman and Alexandra Dockstader; sister, Emma Beacco; brother, Mike (Ellen) Perri; sister-in-law, Irene Perri; and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Dominic, Bill, Ross, Tony, Pete and Angelo; her sisters, Viola and Florence.
The family expresses special thanks to Community Nursing Service Hospice, especially our Angel Tisa Pendergrass. Thanks to Dallen and Molly and staff at Beehive Homes for the love and care extended to mom during her time there. Words cannot express our love and appreciation to our granddaughter Ally, who devoted the last eight weeks caring for Mom. She took such loving care of her Nana. Also to our grandson Chris who has been here and given us so much love and support.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
In memory of Vannie the family requests memorial contributions to The Notre Dame Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
