FERRON-Leona Swasey, age 75, passed away Nov. 25, 2010. Leona was born Sept. 8, 1935 in Altona, Utah, the fourth of five children born to Lionel William and Edna Juilett Chidester Merrick. She married Dudley Swasey on March 16, 1951 in Price.
Leona spent most of her younger years in Carbon County. Leona and Dudley were blessed with three boys. They spent their younger years as a family in Price, before moving to Ferron in 1976. Leona worked at the Emery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for several years as a nurse’s aide.
She also baked pies for the local cafes in Ferron. Leona loved to cook and bake, she was famous for her pies, cinnamon rolls and spud nuts. Leona loved her family and enjoyed cooking for all of them, no one ever left the house feeling hungry.
Leona is survived by her three children: Rodney (Raelyn) Swasey, Ted (LaRena) Swasey, and Sidney (Sherrie) Swasey, all of Ferron; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dudley Swasey, two brothers and two sisters and a grandson, Steven Swasey.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at Molen Cemetery in Ferron. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Leona at www.fausettmortuary.com.
