CASTLE DALE – Our precious Mom passed away at Castleview Hospital in Price, Utah on Dec. 24, 2010 at the age of 89. What a glorious reunion must have taken place with her beloved husband Ross, as this was the date of their 69th anniversary. Dad passed away seven years ago so we are sure there was quite a celebration planned with a lot of friends and family.
Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was born on Aug. 13, 1921 in Castle Dale, Utah to Wallace and Olivia Jones. Mom and Dad were blessed with four children: Loretta, Kathleen, Jim, and Don. In 1953 they took their little family to the Manti Temple to be sealed as a family for time and all eternity. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many positions with her favorite being the Young Women’s Organization.
Mom and Dad loved their children and loved sharing good times with them, taking them camping and picnicking and taking them on vacation almost every summer while they were growing up. Mom would save for it, plan it, and Dad would tag along trying his best to make it happen. What wonderful memories.
In later years, with their children raised their love of travel persisted so they took many trips and tours with groups of friends they made all over the Western States that they met while spending 14 years as snow-birders in Yuma, Ariz. From a group of 10 people Mother was the last to survive…Dad we hope you have the van packed because we’re sure Mom is ready to travel.
Mom loved to crochet, embroidery, and do crafts with a group in Yuma. She was also a beautiful seamstress. For a few years Mom and Dad belonged to a square dance group and Mom was a member of the Lucky 13 ladies club.
As years went by and her health began to fail she still maintained her sweet personality and was loved by all around her and will be missed.
Mom is survived by her four children: Loretta and LeRoy Maxfield of Castle Dale, Kathleen and Ken Stilson of Orangeville, Jim and Kathy Anderson of Riverton and Don and Camile Anderson of Sandy. She also has 17 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also survived by brothers and sisters: Lorna Broderick and Eugene Jones of Bountiful, Bill Jones of Ferron, Dick Jones of Orangeville, and Paula Jewkes and Jack Jones of Castle Dale.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ross, her parents Wallace and Olivia Jones, a brother Lamar Jones and a sister Ila Sanderson, also two grandchildren, Wil and Amy Anderson and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Marie Hansen.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at 12 noon at the Castle Dale Third Ward Chapel (165 West 800 North – Castle Dale, Utah.) A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street – Castle Dale, Utah) and on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
