DWR to host deer management meeting

By By

On April 5 at 6:30 p.m, the Division of Wildlife Resources will hold a public meeting at the Museum of the San Rafael to discuss mule deer management. As you are aware, deer and deer hunting have become hot button issues, attracting the attention of state and local policy makers, businessmen, sportsmen, and the public at-large. Please join us as we discuss the challenges facing our deer herds and the steps we are proposing to address them. A presentation by wildlife program managers will be followed by a question and answer period and general discussion.
“We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to share your ideas and learn more about the complexities of managing mule deer,” said DWR officials.
Among the items to be presented and discussed will be: Statewide and local deer management and hunting strategies, population trends in Utah and throughout the western United States; collection and analysis of deer population data, identifying and mitigating factors that limit deer populations, the effects and management of predators, the effects of deer highway mortality, and habitat trends, including its loss, fragmentation and restoration.
We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the complexities of managing mule deer and to share your ideas.
