Emery track up and running

The high school track season started on March 12 when the Emery High track team traveled to Moab to participate in the Grand Red Rocks Invitational.
Spencer Fehlberg led the Spartan effort by finishing first in the 1600 meter run and second in the 800 meter run. Fehlberg was also on the fourth place finishing 4×400 relay team. Also on the team were Nigel Viera, Dawson Jensen and Brandon McCandless.
Brendan Jorgenson finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles. Jorgenson was also on the third place finishing 4×100 relay team. Also on that team were Scott Jackson, Cory Cox and David Dyer. Jackson finished sixth in the 100-meter dash.
In the field events, Kalin Reynolds finished seventh and Luke VanSkyhawk finished eighth in the javelin. Brendan Jorgenson finished seventh in the long jump and Eli Oliverson finished fourth in the high jump. For the girl’s team, Blayr Jeffs finished first in the long jump, second in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash. Jeffs, along with Kathryn Dyer, Jessica Guymon and Hailee Rogers finished first in the 4×100-meter relay.
Jessica Guymon finished fourth in the 400-meter run. D’Lee Gardner finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles. Kim Oldroyd finished eighth in the 800-meter run. The 4×400-meter relay team finished third but names were not available.
In the field events, Hanna Dyer was fourth, Kim Oldroyd was fifth and Rachel Rogers was seventh in the shot put. Shantel Hansen finished eighth in the javelin while Marilynn Malan was sixth in the discus.
Hailee Rogers was third in the long jump while Katherine Dyer was eighth in that event. Brittany Fauver was fifth in the high jump.
On March 16, the team traveled to Richfield to participate in a meet there. Jessica Guymon finished first in the 400-meter relay. Blayr Jeffs finished first in the long jump with a jump of 16’6″ and third in the 100-meters.
Spencer Fehlberg finished second in the 1600-meter run. Lucas Van Shyhawk finished second in the javelin and Hanna Dyer finished second in the shot put.
The track team will run in the Carbon duels this Tuesday and at the UVU Invitational on April 2.
