American Legion and ladies auxiliary plan activities

The American Legion Post 42 and the Unit 42 Legion Ladies Auxiliary for Ferron and Clawson have some great activities and events planned for the next month. They will meet on May 4 for a Ladies Lunch at the Golf Course Snack Shack at 1:30 p.m.
On May 11 will be the closing social, at the Legion Hall Auxiliary Rooms, pot luck supper and the winner of the Americanism contest will read their essays and receive their awards.
May 21: Armed Forces day and the annual yard sale, bake sale at the Mayors Park on main Street in Ferron 8 a.m. -3: p.m. If you have good used items to donate to the Legion for resale please contact Jo Sansevero 384-2648 or Rose Mary Delange 384-2370. In addition to the yard sale items there will be a bake sale so stop by and shop and help the Auxiliary fund their projects.
May is also the time of year when the poppies are distributed. There will be poppies at the park on May 21 and at the Cemetery for Memorial Day on May 28 and 30. If you see the poppies and the Legion Ladies, stop and contribute to this great program.
The Legion will do the Military Honors at the Ferron Cemetery on May 30 at 10 a.m., the Molen Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. and at the Castle Dale Cemetery at 11 a.m. Mark this date and times on your calendar and come out in support of our fallen heroes.
In addition to the honors for the fallen, the Legion and Auxiliary support our active duty military with boxes and cards several times a year through the Operation Home Support program and donations are accepted at any time for this worthwhile project.
The Legion supports the Girls State Program and the Americanism Essay Program at all the local schools.
They operate a sub-for-Santa and have adopted a Veteran family at Christmas.The Legion and Auxiliary ask for your support as they begin this busy season leading up to Memorial Day.
