Lamb and Hog Showmanship Clinic
4-H and FFA youth who plan to exhibit lambs or hogs at the Southeastern Utah Jr. Livestock Show are invited to a feeding and showmanship clinic at 6:30 p.m. on May 25 at the Stockshow barn in Ferron. The hog showmanship clinic will be taught by Jaycee Snow of Vernal, while Diane Bott will cover lamb feeding and care. For more information contact the USU Extension Office at 381-2381.
See Space Shuttle
Weather permitting Utahns will have two excellent chances of seeing space shuttle Endeavour attached to the International Space Station this coming weekend.
The morning of May 28 look for the duo to rise in the southwest at 5:05 a.m., to be high in the southeast at 5:07 a.m. and to fade from view low in the northeast at 5:10 a.m.
The next morning, May 29 look for them to rise in the southwest at 5:27 a.m., to be half way up the northwest at 5:30 a.m., and to fade out low in the northeast at 5:33 a.m. Unlike evening passes where satellites are typically faint at first and then brighten as they move across the sky, the upcoming morning passes will have Endeavour and ISS bright early on and then become progressively dimmer.
Endeavour is carrying an experiment built by students at Salt Lake City’s Highland High School. The purpose of the experiment is to study the effects of microgravity on frog embryos. This is Endeavour’s 25th and final flight. By the end of this mission Endeavour will have spent nearly 300 days on orbit during which time it will have traveled nearly 200 million kilometers through space.
