Del Ora Guymon Cook rejoined her Heavenly Father on July 23, 2011. She was born in the pioneer spirit on Jan. 11, 1925 to William Lee Guymon and Una Geneva Seeley at Orangeville, Utah.
Del Ora graduated as Valedictorian from Central High School at Castle Dale, Utah in 1943. She then moved to Salt Lake City to support the war effort, working at the Small Arms Plant.
In 1950 she wed Vernon Bennett Cook. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, by Harold B. Lee. Their son, Alan Vernon was born April 11, 1956. Their daughter, Karen Lynne Cook (Gaisford) was born Oct. 25, 1960.
After the war, Del Ora had gone to work at the Genealogical Library, where she was secretary to the Director. In 1959, Del Ora took on a sales territory for Avon Products. In 1962, she was hired by the company as a District Sales Manager. This was the beginning of a career spanning more than 25 years, in Northern and Central Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 18, 1983, both parents, sisters Vearl (Alger), Ruth (Jaloszynski), and her brother Jay. She is survived by her son, Alan (Cheryl), her daughter, Karen (Roger), her brother Duane, her sisters Uneta (Grange) and Patricia (Burns). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Edgemont 10th Ward Chapel, 4560 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. Friends may call on the family at the church on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
