PRICE-Ellene Marie Fossat Verde, 64, died at home Sunday, July 24, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family, having lost her two-year battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 25, 1947, in Price, Utah, the daughter of Victor and Cellia Woodward Fossat. She attended Carbon County schools, graduated from Carbon High School and attended College of Eastern Utah.
Married Danny M. Verde July 2, 1966, in Price. At the time of her death, she had been an Assistant Chief Deputy Clerk for Carbon County Justice Court for more than 20 years. Prior to working at the Justice Court, she worked at Veltri Drug, Mountain Bell and later was co-owner of Dans Pharmacy in Price for 20 years.
Ellene lived life to the fullest and her greatest joy and passion was spending time with her eight grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was fiercely loyal to her family and friends.
She is survived by husband, Dan, Price; daughters, Angela (Erik) Sandstrom, Riverton, Kristina (Richard) Schade, Price, Natalie Blanton; sister, Darlene Lowe; brother, Ralph (Sandra) Fossat; sister-in-law, Eve Mary Verde, son-in-law, Rickie Blanton; eight grandchildren: Tanner, Ashley and Lindsay Sandstrom; Vanessa and Levi Schade; Miranda, Brittney and LeeAnne Blanton; numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece Vikki Barnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Karl Lowe.
The family wishes to thank her many close friends who supported her through this struggle, and expresses appreciation to Rocky Mountain Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to your favorite cancer charity or go to Disneyland with your grandchildren.
A Vigil service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the church. Family will receive friends at the church Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.

Through adversity, she taught us all strength. Always the person in charge, we knew she would be the first one in Heaven to make sure everything is perfect for the rest of us when we arrive. Now Nonna knows the secret.
