HUNTINGTON: Frank Levi Hall, age 93, passed away unexpectedly July 26, 2011, in Price, Utah. He was born March 2, 1918, in Garland, Utah, to Levi Franklin Hall and Vurlia Grace Godfrey. Frank married Norma Sarah Hansen June 10, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Frank grew up and attended school in Box Elder County. He graduated from Utah State University in 1943, and received his Masters Degree in 1970. Frank came to Huntington in March 1943 to teach Vocational Agriculture for the remainder of the school year and they never left. Frank was very involved in starting the Carbon Emery Young Farmers Chapter, was instrumental in establishing the Southeastern Utah Jr. Livestock show, and helped organize the Castle Valley Co-op. He was an expert in animal care and was often called upon to treat many animals for farmers and FFA members. Frank served as principal of Huntington Elementary, North Emery Junior High, and Canyon View Junior High. He was the assistant superintendent for Emery School District for many years.
Frank served in many capacities in the LDS Church including: Bishop of Huntington Second Ward and President of Emery Stake. He also served a mission with his wife, Norma, in the Missouri St. Louis Mission, and was a Manti Temple ordinance worker and Temple Sealer. Many of his grandchildren had the privilege of having Grandpa seal them to their spouses. At the time of his passing, he was serving as Stake Patriarch.
Frank was a master gardener and took meticulous care of his home and yard. He also loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman, great story teller, and loved to play games and sing. He loved his grandchildren and was much loved by them.
Frank is survived by five daughters and one son – Annette (Dan) Wells, Aliece (Fred) Boone, Lynn (Calleen) Hall, Jeanie (Owen) Olsen, Amy (Clark) Bonner, Nadine (Bill) Cox; 47 grandchildren and 105 great-grandchildren; sisters Lauenna Garn, Adele Anderson, Lorna Evans, and Claire Atkinson.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart of 69 years Norma (March 2, 2011), and brothers Verl, Ariel, Harold, and Denton.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 12 Noon in the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 N. Main St, Huntington). Viewing was Friday, July 29, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center and on Saturday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial was in the Huntington City Cemetery, “But I’d rather be in Garland.” Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
