Cleveland Town Meeting On Proposed Closing of Cleveland Post Office
Cleveland Town will hold a meeting to discuss plans to organize the community to prevent the proposed closing of the Cleveland Post Office. The meeting will be held on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the the Old Cleveland Town Hall, 35 S .100 W., Cleveland. All Cleveland residents and the surrounding area are encouraged to attend. Local customers of the Cleveland Post Office must take immediate action if the present status of our post office is to be retained. We must be organized to voice our disapproval of a closing.
ACT Achievement test Registration
Registration is now open for the Oct. 22 ACT achievement test. Students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam must register before Sept. 16.
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam. It tests what students have actually learned in school, not their aptitude for learning. The ACT also measures what students need to know to be ready for first year credit-bearing college courses based on ACT College Readiness Standards. Every student’s results can be tied directly to these consistent standards.

Hunter Education Course
A hunter education course will be held Sept. 12-16 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. There will be a $10 registration fee. Students will be required to purchase a voucher at any hunting license dealer (Jones Ace Hardware) before this class begins. Sign up early; there is a class size limit. Missionary Prep Class
All high school seniors and graduates are invited to a weekly Missionary Preparation class at the Castle Dale LDS Seminary. Classes are every Monday morning at 7 a.m. Breakfast is provided afterward. We look forward to seeing you.
Descendants of Daniel Henrie
The Manti Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers invites all descendants of Daniel Henrie and his wife Amanda Bradley and their children, and his second wife Susan Coleman and their children, and families raised in Ferron area, to honor them in a tribute called “Settlement of Sanpete” Sept. 17.
Daniel settled in Manti in 1850, and left a bountiful heritage here. Poetry Contest
A $1,000 grand prize is being offered to the last poet standing in a free contest sponsored by Celestial Arts Society. There are 50 prizes in all totaling $5,000.
Poems of 21 lines or fewer on any subject and in any style with be judeged by the contest director Dr. James Cameron.
Entries must be received by Aug. 31, and may be submitted by mail to Free Poetry Contest, 221 N. Central Ave. #228, Medford, Oregon 97501. Or enter online at www.reecontest.com.

Emery High School “Military Honor Wall”
Emery High School has created an “Honor Wall” to recognize Emery High students who have served in the Armed Forces from 2000 to the present. We would like a 5×7 photo in military dress, if possible. Please include name, branch of service, rank, active duty address, and deployments. Food Handler’s Classes Emery County

Classes will be held at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Southeastern Utah District Health Dept., 25 West Main (next to Boyd’s Pharmacy) Castle Dale. Cost is $15 (cards are good for three years). Classes are two hours long. Current cards are required for all people working in, but not limited to restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores, deli’s and The Department of Agriculture Cottage Food Rule. Lifeguard Certification Class
Emery County Aquatic Center will be teaching a lifeguard certification class for adults who are at least 21 years old. There is a $100 fee. Maximum class size is 10 and consists of 31.5 hours of instruction. After you become certified you will be eligible to apply for an
