Emery golfers ready for state tourney

The Emery High golf team just completed their region season with the region golf meet held at Monticello. The Spartans finished fourth in the meet and with that finish will now compete at the 2-A state meet on Oct. 3-4 at Palisades State Park golf course in Sanpete County.
Grand won the meet with a score of 2327 followed by Richfield at 2370. South Sevier was next at 2432 followed by Emery at 2552 and finally San Juan at 3269.
Talon Gadd of Richfield was the top finisher at the region meet and Gadd was the overall top finisher for the region season with an average of 77.5. Grand High had the next three spots followed by Richfield with next two spots and South Sevier with the next three spots.
Emery had the final slot in the top 10 as Hunter Huntington finished in tenth with an average of 87.1. Huntington was less than a stroke away from finishing in the top six golfers for the season.
Besides Huntington, Emery’s other top six golfers this season were McKoy Allred, McKlane Allred, Kalen Lofley, Brandon Oliver and Jordan Fuller. McKoy averaged 88.3, good enough for 15th in region and McKlane averaged 89.5, good enough for 17th in region. Lofley averaged 95.1, Oliver averaged 105.6 and Fuller averaged 106.7.
