State cross country held at Sugar House Park

The 2011 high school cross-country championships were held in mid October at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. In the 2-A ranks, Rowland Hall won the girl’s event and Parowan won the boy’s race.
The Emery High girls finished eighth. Jaecee Bird had the best finish for Emery as she finished the race in 24th place.
Kassidee Oakeson was next for Emery followed by Jamie Gilbert, Blayr Jeffs and Brianne Akers.
Rowland Hall was followed by San Juan, Enterprise, North Summit, Manti, Richfield and Parowan and then Emery. Emery was nudged out of seventh by a nose.
Parowan won the boy’s title and they were followed by Rowland Hall and San Juan. Only two Spartans finished the race in the top 100. Brendan Jorgensen was 33rd and Leedan Johnson was 55th.
