EHS wrestlers fall to Richfield

The Emery High wrestling team had their final home match of the season on Jan. 25 and lost to Richfield 48-36. It was also senior night for the Emery squad. Four Emery seniors were honored for their dedication prior to the match beginning. The fans, coaches, parents and teammates honored Tyson Stout, Chet Funk, Brett Sorensen and Brandon McCandless.
Emery forfeited the 106-pound weight class while Richfield forfeited the 132-pound weight class. Every match ended in a pin, as Emery had five wins and Richfield had seven wins.
The following wrestlers won for Emery. Chet Funk at 170 pounds continued his hot streak and pinned his man in the second round. Ryan Cox at 126 pounds and Cole Guymon at 145 pounds each pinned their opponent in the first round while Cezly Collard at 120 pounds and Brett Sorensen at 182 pounds pinned their opponents in the second round.
Emery wrestlers that lost included Jason Anderson at 113 pounds, Taven Miller at 138 pounds, Dakota Curtis at 152 pounds, Stout at 160 pounds, Zach West at 195 pounds, McCandless at 220 pounds and Kenden Huff at 285 pounds. Emery wrestles Altamont on Feb. 1 to prepare for the 2-A divisionals at the Sevier Valley Center on Feb. 10-11 in Richfield.
