WELLINGTON – Dawna Mae Oviatt, age 83, passed away Feb. 16, 2012 in Price. She was born Jan. 6, 1929 to Azel Thayn and Inez Lavon Rich in Wellington. She married her sweetheart Clinton J. Oviatt on Aug. 10, 1945 in Wellington.
Dawna was born, raised and went to school in Wellington. She and her sweetheart, Clint, were blessed with four children. In the early years of their marriage they raised their family in Wellington. In the early 1960’s they moved to Salt Lake City to manage an apartment complex. She and her family returned to Wellington in 1974 when Clint went to work for the coal mines, where he later retired. Dawna was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, sewing blankets and dresses for family members. Her home was always filled with family and friends enjoying a cup of hot coffee. She liked sharing the holidays and spending time with family and friends for special get-togethers. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who put the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her children: Jeri Lyn Oviatt, Price; Jay (Wendy) Oviatt, Price; Ruth (Jeff) Eskelsen, Wellington; and Thayne (Renae) Oviatt, Grand Junction, Colo; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; brothers and sisters: Azella Bradley, Wellington; Jess (Renee) Thayn, Wellington; Connie Erickson, Huntington; Eva (Max) Tucker, Elmo; and Ora Keel, Wellington; and sister-in-law, Colleen Thayn, Wellington.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Dawna Lyn Nielsen; siblings: Lynn Thayn, Dea Thayn, Ruth Nelson, Harold Thayn; two infant brothers: Dell and George Thayn; brother-in-law’s: Archie Bradley, Blair Erickson, Jay Keel, and Harold Nelson; and sister-in-law’s: Ethel Thayn and Ila Thayn.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 E. 100 S. Price). A viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and on Tuesday, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Dawna at www.fausettmortuary.com.
