Emery High track participates at North Summit meet

The Emery High track team continued to improve as the team traveled to the home meet of the reigning 2-A state champion. Last week Emery traveled to North Summit High School and finished second to the host team. The Emery team scored 237 points to North Summit’s 367. The Emery girls scored 130 points to finish second behind the host while the boys scored 107 points to finish third behind North Summit and Duchesne.
Freshman Ashlynn Allred was the lone event winner for the Spartan girls as she won both the 100-meter race and the 200-meter race. In the 100-meters, Allred had her best time of the season as she bested last year’s 2-A state champion, Samantha Nichols of North Summit, and Alissa Atisme of Layton Christian, the holder of the fastest time in the state this season. In the 200-meter race, Allred came within a couple a hundreds of a second to besting the all-time best record at Emery High.
Brendon Jorgensen took first place in the 110-meter high hurdles to be the lone individual winner for Emery.
Catherine Dyer finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, Jacee Bird finished second in the 1600-meters, Brandon McCandless finished second in the boys shot put while Whitney Withers finished second in the girls shot put. Withers also finished second in the discus while Jessica Guymon finished second in the javelin.
Here are the other Emery girls that placed in the meet: Jacee Bird finished fourth in the 3200-meters, Hailee Rogers finished fifth in the 400-meter race with Cassidy Labrum finishing seventh. Ashley Guymon finished third in the 1600-meter race with Savannah Woolsey finishing sixth. Jessica Guymon took seventh in the 800-meter race. Cassidy Labrum finished sixth in the 200-meters while Ashlynn Allred finished fifth in the long jump. Hanna Dyer finished fourth in the shot put while Rachel Rogers, finished fifth, Lauren Clark finished sixth and Hanna Dyer finished seventh in the discus. Withers was fourth in the javelin.
In the relays, Emery finished second in the 4×100, second in the sprint medley and third in the 4×400. Team members of the 4×100 were Catherine Dyer, Hailee Rogers, Jessica Guymon and Ashlynn Allred. Team members of the sprint medley were Catherine Dyer, Hanna Dyer, Cassidy Labrum and Ashley Guymon. Members of the 4×400 were Catherine Dyer, Hanna Dyer, Hailee Rogers and Jessica Guymon.
Here are the other Emery boys that placed in the meet. In the 3200-meters, LeeDan Johnson took third, Davis Thompson took fifth, Zac Clifford took sixth and McKade Hansen took seventh. In the 110-meter hurdles, Nagel Viera finished fifth. Scott Jackson finished third in the 100-meters. Tyler Pulli finished sixth in the 400-meters. Caleb Woolsey finished seventh in the 1600-meters while David Bird took eighth.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Tyler Rowley finished third, Nagel Viera took fifth, Jax Gardner took sixth and Justan Potter took seventh. Caleb Woolsey took sixth in the 800-meter. Taylor Hansen took third in the high jump with Justan Potter taking seventh and Gavin Oviatt taking eighth. Remi Hoffman took seventh in the discus. Kalin Reynolds finished seventh in the javelin.
In the relays, Emery finished fourth in the 4×100 and second in the sprint medley. Team members in the first relay were David Dyer, Brendon Jorgensen, Jared Shakespaere and Scott Jackson. Team members of the other relay were David Dyer, Tyler Rowley, Nagel Viera and Jason Anderson.
