ELMO-Morris “Gordon” Nielsen, age 61, passed away at his home in Elmo, Utah on July 21, 2012. He was born on Dec. 23, 1950 in Price, Utah to Morris J and Helen Maye Swasey Nielsen. He married Paula J Fausett on Dec. 26, 1970 in Redmond, Utah.
In 1969 he enlisted in the Army where he served for three years. During that time 19 months was served in the Armored Cavalry division in Vietnam. He received several medals including: Service with four bronze stars, Army commendation with “V” device along with many more. After returning from the service he was a heavy equipment operator and worked at Wattis and Willow Creek mines for 25 years.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved to spend time on his horse on the desert, and on his 4-wheeler in the mountains. Gordon was an avid hunter which he shared many hunting and camping memories with not only his children but his grandchildren. Above all else his family was his prized possession.
Although he has gone home he will remain with us in our hearts. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife Paula Nielsen, of Elmo, daughter, Nadine (Jake) Wilson of Colorado, grandchildren: Brayden Wilson, Jace Nielsen, Aleksus Wilson and Haylee Nielsen, siblings: Ralyn (Denny) Carter, of Millercreek, and Wayde (Tracy) Nielsen, of Lawrence, special friends: Terry (Sandra) Crain, of St. Anthony, Idaho, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his son, Cory Gordon Nielsen, parents: Morris and Helen Maye Nielsen, sisters: Toni Lyndsey and Kathy Birch, brothers-in-law: Robert Lyndsey and Gary Birch.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Elmo Town Cemetery. Services are in care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Gordon at www.fausettmortuary.com.
