Janet Kay Mortensen, 69, went home to her sweetheart Sept. 13, 2012. She passed away in her home surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 31, 1943 to Einar and Ina Erickson. She married her childhood sweetheart, Dennis A Mortensen, on Oct. 10, 1958.
They were blessed with six beautiful children: Cardell (Mary) Mortensen, Brent Mortensen, Kyle (Ruthann) Mortensen, Cory (Sharon) Mortensen, Kelly (Ruschelle) Mortensen, Karlene (Brodie) Barnes. They were sealed in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity on June 16, 1980.
Mom’s entire focus was her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She always maintained a positive outlook on life, despite her many health challenges. She had a quick wit and sense of humor. Her strength and example will never be forgotten.
She is survived by five children, two sisters, LaRue Lofley and Deloras Davis, and 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis (1939-2005), her son Brent (1960), her parents, Einar and Ina Erickson and her brother Blair Erickson.
Funeral service were held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Elmo LDS Chapel (170 East Main Street). A viewing was held on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, Utah, also on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the Elmo City Cemetery.
