PRICE-Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband Jimmie Duane Wilstead, age 75, passed away Oct. 25, 2012 in West Jordan, Utah at the home of his son Steven. He passed away with his family at his side after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born in the coal camp of Castle Gate, Utah on June 17, 1937 to Alfred Ray and Pearl Jensen Wilstead. Married Susan Christensen on June 20, 1964 in the Manti Temple. Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jimmie was a fighter and had a strong will to live. He was a 17 year survivor of a liver transplant when he was only expected to live a few years. He had a very tough exterior but inside a heart of gold. Jim attended Carbon College, BYU and graduated from Utah State University. JD then taught shop and math at Carbon High, West High, Helper Jr. High and the Job Corp. Jim was a businessman who owned and operated J&F Ready Mix, Monroc, and J&S Freeway Transmission. Jim was also a general contractor who could take a shack and make it into a beautiful home. His favorite pastime was spent in his woodshop and he loved building beautiful oak cabinets, shelves and anything else he could. One of his proudest accomplishments was raising his grandson Slater for the past three years. Slater was always two steps behind his Papa.
Jimmie loved to spend time at the family cabin that he built in Scofield, Utah. He loved to take road trips and stop at every antique and pawn shop he could find. He never passed up an opportunity to wander through a good yard sale. Jim had a love for the outdoors and he especially loved fishing and hunting with family and friends.
