ORANGEVILLE – Marilyn S. Hardee, age 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on Dec. 19, 2012, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born May 26, 1933 in Orangeville to Edgar and Nora Hawks Sitterud. She married LaVoy Hardee on November 16, 1950 in Price. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They have been married for 62 wonderful years.
Marilyn enjoyed crocheting, and camping and fishing, especially at Pete’s Hole. She liked to play the Penny Slot Machines whenever she got the chance. Marilyn also enjoyed traveling. She loved to see the ocean, especially along the Oregon coast. But what she loved the most was spending time with her family. Combining both her love of travel and her family, she enjoyed two cruises with them.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, who is also her best friend, LaVoy; children: Janet (Delroy) Peacock of Castle Dale, Colleen (Allen) Childs of Orangeville, Sheila (Joe) Fielder of Castle Dale, Irene Shiner of Green River, Wyoming, Thomas (Lori) Hardee of Castle Dale, Rick (Kim) Hardee of Castle Dale, Brent (Cathy) Hardee of Castle Dale, and Shellee Woodall of Murray; a sister, LaRee Brown of Orangeville; 31 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Nora Sitterud; in-laws, Rulon and Mary Hardee; two grandsons, Jesse Peacock and Skyler Hardee; brother, Harold Sitterud; sister, Norma Wild; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the 8th North LDS Chapel in Castle Dale (165 West 800 North). There was a viewing Friday, Dec. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle Dale) and on Saturday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Marilyn at www.fausettmortuary.com.
