The Emery County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing person. Twenty-five year old Matthew Alan Larsen was last seen in the Castle Dale/Orangeville area of Emery County on Dec. 15, 2012. He is 6’2″ and 180 lbs. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Det. John Barnett said the man lives in Castle Dale and was last heard from by family and friends on Dec. 15. Cell phone records indicate his cell phone was in the vicinity west of Orangeville behind XTO. Det. Barnett said these records are not always reliable. The missing man did not have his wallet with him. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office, Search and rescue and the search dogs combed the area west of Orangeville but did not find anything. Currently the case is still under investigation and more information is being gathered from Apple and Verizon to try to get a direct location of the phone’s whereabouts at this time. The man worked in security and was contemplating a job in Arizona, but he didn’t go there. Det. Barnett said they are waiting for any leads or further information in the case. One worry is the man went missing before the recent snowstorms. It is believed the man is on foot and he dropped a vehicle off he had been borrowing on Dec. 15.
If you have seen this man or have any information regarding his possible whereabouts, please contact the Emery County Sheriff’s Office at (435)381-2404, or Det. John Barnett at (435)609-9883.
Sheriff Greg Funk said they will continue to search by air and on the ground in the coming days.
