Canyon View girls tie for first in league play

The 2013 Castle Valley Athletic Association recently held their annual varsity basketball tournaments at Canyon View Junior High School in Huntington. Mont Harmon Junior High won both the boy’s and the girl’s tournaments to claim two trophies.
Mont Harmon was the number one seed in the girl’s tournament and needed a huge final quarter to defeat Canyon View in the championship game. Canyon View led 13-7 after the first quarter, 24-18 at the half and 31-23 after three quarters. Mont Harmon scored more points in that final period than they had scored all game long as they won the period 24-14 to sneak out a 2-point win. The final score was 47-45.
Scoring for Canyon View in the game were Skyler Sitterud with 13 points, Lainee Jensen with 12 points, Adilene Lerma and Shadleigh Allred with 6 points each, Alexa Cook with 4 points and Shaylynn Rowley and Jacie Huntington with 2 points each. Canyon view defeated San Rafael in the first round game 46-31 while Mont Harmon defeated Helper. Scoring for Canyon View in this game were Sitterud with 18 points, Jensen with 9, Lerma with 8, Rowley with 6 and Cook with 5. Scoring for San Rafael were Kabri Butler with 10 points, Lexi Chynoweth with 9, Taijah Price with 5, Alyson Woolsey with 3 and Jessica Mason and Jolee Sundstrom with 2 points each.
