FERRON – Jay H. Fullmer, age 78, passed away April 5, 2013 at his home in Ferron, Utah. Jay was born June 19, 1934 in Bingham, Utah to Howard Clay and Elizabeth Brace Fullmer. He married Jackie Chynoweth October 23, 1959 in Anabella, Utah.
After being born in Bingham, Jay was raised in Springville, graduating from Springville High in 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 – 1959, serving in Germany. After he and Jackie were married, they lived in many places throughout the great state of Utah. Jay worked road construction for over 41 years, and also worked for Strong Company for many years as a superintendent.
Jay enjoyed spending time with Jackie while taking rides in the mountains. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons, Clay and Kenneth, and drawing and reading with his daughter, Jaylene. His hobbies included being outdoors, whether it was gardening, fishing, reading, or walking his dog, Snoopy. He loved being with family, especially taking the time to play with his grandchildren.
Jay is survived by his wife, Jackie; children: Clay Fullmer of Ferron, Kenneth Fullmer of Tooele, and Jaylene (Cory) Shurtleff of Winslow, Ariz; 11 grandchildren; 10 and a half great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Marcusen of Quincy, Washington; brothers-in-law: Larry Chynoweth of Cedar City, Lane (Marlene) Chynoweth of Ferron, and Delon Pollock of Manila, Utah; and sisters-in-law, Alice Ormond of Anabella, Utah, Bonnie Wimber of Salt Lake City, and Eva Chynoweth of Ferron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elizabeth Fullmer; son, Jay H. Fullmer Jr.; siblings, Evan (Marie) Wimber, Norma (Theo) Haws, and Leon Wimber; in-laws, Lawrence and Lavina Chynoweth; brothers-in-law, Arthur V. (Lorraine) Chynoweth and Duane Marcusen; and sister-in-law, LaRee Pollock.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Millsite LDS Ward Chapel (35 West 200 North, Ferron). There will be a viewing Wednesday, April 10 from 6- 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale (720 North Center Street) and on Thursday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Jay at www.fausettmortuary.com.
