Results from the Desertview Pro Rodeo sponsored by Desertview Federal Credit Union. Bareback riding (sponsored by Wheeler Machinery)- James Sursa with a score of 79. He won $1,166. Second was Morgan Heaton with a score of 77. Ethan McNeill and Trey Fisher split third and fourth with scores of 76 each. In steer wrestling (sponsored by Live Earth) Trever Knighton won with a time of 4.7 seconds earning $1,322. Kyle Dahl was second in 4.8 seconds, Craig James Smith was third in 5.0 and past all around champion, Ryan Jarrett, was fourth in 5.1 seconds. Team roping (sponsored by Robinson Transport) – First was Zach Harrell/Otis Grant in 5.8 seconds, each earning $1,033. Second was Brady Siddoway/Chance Abplanalp in 6.2, Third was crowd favorite Tuf Cooper and his partner Trey Johnson in 7.8 seconds. Fourth was Justin Hodson/Matt Liston with a time of 8 seconds. Saddle bronc (sponsored by San Rafael Works) – First was Ty Kirkland with a score of 83, earning him $1,223. Second was Jake Larson scoring 82. Kendall Anderson scored 80 points for third and our own Brock Winn was fourth with a score of 78.
Tie-down roping (sponsored by IFA) – First was Justin Parke with a time of 7.6 seconds earning $1,467. Kenneth Winn and J.C. Malone split second and third with runs of 7.9 seconds. Fourth place was NFR qualifier Nate Baldwin with a time of 8 seconds. Barrel racing (sponsored by Dinosaur Tire) – Jody Sheffield was first with a time of 17.57 seconds, winning $962. second was Stacy Maxfield in 17.63, third was Norma Wood in 17.83 and fourth was Vickie Solomonsen in 17.90 seconds. Bull riding (sponsored by Burns Saddlery) – NFR qualifier, Sonny Murphy split first and second with Ben McPherson. Both scored 85 points earning them each $1,223. Cody Brown was third with a score of 83, and World Champion, Wesley Silcox was fourth with a score of 80. Top honors in the wild cow milking, sponsored by Zion’s Bank, went to Merrill Duncan and Jake Nielsen.
The hide race was sponsored by Coca-Cola and Bro Anderson and Barbie Powell were the winners there. Winners in each event were presented engraved Browning pocket knives donated by Banasky Insurance. Friday night was Price Auto night. They are the RAM Rodeo sponsor for our rodeo. As part of their sponsorship they donated $500 to a “cash cow” event that was held Saturday. Taylen Nielsen was the big winner by pulling off $100 and then holding the steer so others could win money as well.
Saturday was Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night. Money was raised to help the fight against breast cancer. Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife donated a gun and Frayed String Archery donated a bow that were raffled off to help earn the money. Kyle Beagley won the gun and Ward Pierce won the bow. Each night there were various program giveaways. Winners received items donated by Coke and Big O Tire. All proceeds from program sales went to help Heidi Kay Ewell’s heart transplant. Overall the rodeo went well. We had good crowds each night and Saturday the grand stands were nearly full.
