Emery High golf gets ready for state meet

By GARY ARRINGTON Sports Writer

The Emery High golf team is headed to Monticello this week for the final region match of the season. The region golf teams will converge on this small San Juan county town and play the Hideout Golf course. The Hideout has been applauded by the Utah golf course raters as one of the very best in the entire state. It is often called “Utah’s best kept secret” by both state and national golf media. It will be challenge for the teams.
Grand High School would have to almost not show up to lose the region crown but the battle for second will be worth the drive to watch. Emery and South Sevier come into the match one shot apart in the region standings and the winner will be assured of second place for the season. The Rams are actually leading by one stroke at this point. Last week, the region teams met at Palisades State Park and played at the site of the upcoming 2-A state championships next week. At this tournament Emery finished in third place, 11 strokes behind Grand and five strokes behind South Sevier.
Emery had led the Rams by four strokes going into the match.
Tyeray Migliori was the top scorer for Emery as he shot an 86.
Season long team leader McKlane Allred followed with an 87. Jordan Fuller and Mark Debry finished third and fourth.
