A fundraising golf tournament was held on Saturday at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron to raise funds for Clint Conover’s family. Conover was killed in an avalanche in Huntington Canyon.
The event was well attended and had several sponsors. There were several raffle prizes available to buy tickets for including a Lasik eye surgery, laptop computer, restaurant gift certificates, garden supplies, gift baskets and numerous items.
Each golfer received a ball with Clint’s name on it for participating. Many of Clint’s friends from Joy Manufacturing were there and Joy sponsored many teams and gave away prizes for the raffle.
Clint’s wife Megan told everyone how appreciative she was of everyone coming together for the golf tournament. “Clint loved golfing and he loved all of you. I’m glad all of you liked him. It’s really hard to go on without him.”
Megan again thanked everyone for their support that has helped her and her children get through a difficult time.
The golfers were fed a dinner after their 18 holes on a windy and cold day. The team coming in first was from Johansen and Tuttle Engineering.
The golf tournament and also an account set-up at Zion’s Bank has generated more than $11,000 for the Conover family.
Fundraising efforts will continue with Conoco who is going to donate an AR for a raffle and tickets will be on sale soon for that gun so watch for them as the community rallies around this family in their time of need.
Conover passed away on Feb. 9 and left behind his wife Megan, and children; Colaine, Olivia, Joninka, Clancy and Jess.
