Merlin Hugh Christiansen will celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Emery Recreation Center at 90 North 100 West. Guests are invited to share in the fun from 2 to 3 p.m.
Merlin is a life-long resident of Emery and married Jean Crook Christiansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 6, 1946 following a summer courtship when Jean’s parents moved to Emery. They were best friends and did most everything together. She passed away in 2003. They have nine children,38 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, with at least five more expected, and one great, great grandchild.
Merlin proudly served in the U. S. Navy in World War II. He has always served faithfully and diligently in his church and community. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle and still gets a thrill when he watches the soil being worked and harvested. He is a hero to his children and grandchildren and can still make us laugh every time he is around. He has always been a great example to his family and still gives excellent advice. He is greatly loved by his more than 160 descendants.
