Morris George Huntington, 94, passed away on March 30, 2014, after a brief illness.
He was the eighth of nine children born to Leonard and Caroline Sitterud Huntington in Orangeville, Utah on Jan. 14, 1920.
Morris served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later held various callings in the Church, including a Temple Worker in the Manti Temple. He joined the Merchant Marines and helped with the war effort from 1943-1946, while serving in the Pacific Ocean. On June 3, 1946, he married his sweetheart Beth Jewkes in the Manti Temple shortly after his discharge. They had one son, Len. Beth passed away on April 9, 1995.
Morris could often be seen enjoying a baseball game at one of the various fields in town. He shared a love for sports, although he enjoyed watching more than playing. He had a keen sense of humor and will be remembered for his wit. Morris enjoyed a good conversation and he had many friends. He is remembered most for his love of scouting. Morris served as Scoutmaster for over 30 years and helped shape and influence the lives of many young boys.
Survived by his son, Len (Judy) Huntington; sister, Rose Huntington Denison; granddaughter, Holli Stewart; three great-grandchildren, Alanna, Skylor and Aimee Stewart.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth; five brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson.
Funeral service, Friday, April 4, 2014, 11 a.m., Price North Stake Center (449 North 100 East) in Price. A viewing will be held at the church Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Castle Dale Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Morris online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
