Lady Spartans take out the Broncos/sit first in region

After jumping out to a 25-4 lead in the first 10 minutes of the region 15 game last week against San Juan, the Emery High Lady Spartans cruised to an easy win. Emery won the game 55-29 in their lone outing of the week.
Emery now stands alone atop the region with a 6-0 region record.
Emily Olsen hit a pair of three-point shots plus a pair of free throws in the first period with teammate Camrey Johnson hitting both a three-pointer, a two pointer and a free throw and Bailey Rasmussen scoring a pair of baskets as these three scored Emery’s first 18 points.
In the second quarter, Emery scored the first four points before the Broncos ended the period by scoring 14 of the next 22 points. Olsen hit another three and scored five points to continue leading the team.
Ashton Bell hit a three plus a free throw and Rasmussen scored another three points as Emery led at the half 33-18.
Ashton scored seven of Emery’s 12 third quarter points to lead the team in this period. Bell hit another three, a two pointer and a pair of free throws. Johnson made three of four free throws in the period and Cassidy Labrum scored her only points of the game by hitting a two-point shot.
Emery quickly scored the first eight points of the final period before reserves for both teams flooded the court.
Bell hit another three-pointer and Rasmussen also scored three points.
For the game Emily Olsen and Ashton Bell each scored 13 points to lead the team and Bailey Rasmussen scored 10 points as the three seniors each ended the game scoring in double figures.
Bailey, Emily and Ashton were also the leading rebounders in the game with 12, 7 and 4 respectively. Rasmussen both scored in double figures plus rebounded in double figures and also had 2 blocked shots and 2 steals. Olsen also had 2 steals in the game.
Also scoring in the game were Camrey Johnson with 9 points, Lainee Jensen with 3 points and Bayler Griffin, Cassidy Labrum and Lexi Chynoweth with 2 points each.
Emery will face North Sevier this Tuesday in Salina and South Sevier this Thursday in Castle Dale. The Lady Rams and the Lady Wolves are tied for second place in region 15 with 4-2 records after both lost to Emery the first time around and these two have defeated each other.
Delta is the top-ranked 2-A team and possess a 15-1 record. North Summit is ranked second with a 13-3 season record.
Both teams also possess a 6-0 region record, the same as the Spartans. Emery is ranked fourth with a 10-4 record. Kanab at 5-1 in region 13 is ranked third and the Lady Cowboys have a season record of 14-2.
South Sevier is the final ranked team in 2-A basketball.
