Fourth place overall finish earns spot at state competition
The Emery High Spardettes participated in the 2A region drill team competition in Richfield on Jan. 27. They performed in military, dance and kick. They earned a first place finish in military and a second place for their kick routine. They finished fourth in region and will compete at the state meet on Feb. 7. After the competition all the drill team members participated in a drill down competition. Jadree Huntington placed third in the drill down in the 2A Northern Division.
Maegan Butterfield, Brooklin Ewell and Aspen Bloomer were named to the All-region team. Bethany Brown, Aspen Bloomer and Brooklin Ewell were named Academic All-Region to qualify for this award you must be a senior and have a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Brooklin Ewell and Aspen Bloomer were selected for the All-State Drill Team. The All-State drill team is selected by an audition.
In the northern division Manti took first place, South Summit-second place, Gunnison-third place; Emery-fourth and North Summit-fifth place.
In the southern division South Sevier took first place, Parowan took second place Kanab-third; Enterprise-fourth and Grand-fifth place.
The Spardettes are coached by Lindsay Oman.
